Paediatric Physiotherapy Reports

Specialist clinical insight to support children’s rehabilitation, function, and participation following injury

Our Paediatric Physiotherapy Reports provide expert assessment and evidence-based recommendations for children and young people who have experienced serious or catastrophic injury. These reports are designed to inform rehabilitation planning, medico-legal proceedings, and case management by clearly identifying current needs and future requirements across a range of functional domains.

Prepared by physiotherapists with specialist paediatric experience, each report reflects a deep understanding of childhood development, the impact of injury on motor function, and the interplay between physical, emotional, and social wellbeing.

Scope of Assessment

Assessments are holistic, child-centred, and tailored to each young person’s age, developmental stage, injury profile, and family context. R

Reports may include:

  • Detailed evaluation of motor function, mobility, posture, strength, coordination, and endurance
  • Assessment of pain, fatigue, and movement-related challenges
  • Recommendations for therapeutic interventions, frequency, and duration
  • Advice on equipment needs, including orthotics, mobility aids, and therapy tools
  • Guidance on positioning, handling, and physical access at home, nursery, school, or in the community
  • Consideration of future therapy input, including anticipated changes as the child grows

Where appropriate, reports also offer comment on the likely long-term trajectory of physical function and support the quantification of therapy needs into adolescence and adulthood.

Integrated Approach

Our paediatric physiotherapists often work alongside occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and case managers to ensure a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach. Their input contributes meaningfully to Needs Reports and Case Management planning, particularly in complex cases where physical rehabilitation is central to the child’s recovery and development.

Assessments may be conducted at home, in school, or in clinic settings, and always with sensitivity to the child’s comfort and engagement. Where in-person assessment is not feasible, remote options are available and delivered with the same high standard of clinical care.
